Kimberly Stamatelos & Associates is
a law and mediation firm operating in West Des Moines, Iowa. The
approach of our attorneys is to represent clients in a way that
keeps the dignity of the family during difficult legal challenges
such as divorce, legal separation, premarital agreements, custody
disagreements, parenting conflicts, issues with ageing parents and
siblings, and other aspects of family disputes.
Our attorneys can represent you in a legal matter, or serve as
a mediator if you want to keep matters out of court.
Legal Representation: Our attorneys are licensed
to practice in the state of Iowa. We represent both males and females,
those wanting a divorce and those who want to fight the divorce,
those who want to fight custody and those who agree on custody.
Our approach will be to negotiate and see if we can keep you out
of court FIRST. If not, we represent you through the trial stage.
Mediation: Our attorneys are all trained as mediators.
We can mediate matters large and small. Examples of cases we have
mediated include: entire divorce cases including property and custody
issues, alimony, child support, sale of the marital home, disagreements
between parents about child rearing issues, disputes on interpretation
of the legal Decree, visitation problems, lack of communication
between parents, disputes involving partners, co-habitating, businesses,
families dealing with elderly parents, and all types of civil matters
including automotive manufacturers, insurance companies, and persons
injured in automobiles and on the job.
Parenting Coordination Even after the divorce is final, people raising children
together experience conflict. Parties agree by court order or by
contract to consult with the parenting coordinator who has authority
to speak to the parties, the child(ren), counselors and others familiar
with the dispute. Then, depending on the scope of the authority
granted by the parties, the parenting coordinator can make decisions
so parties break impasse and move on with their lives and with their
parenting responsibilities. Most issues heard by the parenting coordinator
are not issues that justify lawyers and courts. Yet, they are issues
that cause tension and stress to families. By having the parenting
coordinator available, parties have a quick resource for resolving
issues. Kim Stamatelos was trained as a parenting coordinator in
2009 and has experience in working with high conflict couples.
